A weekly highlight for the kids is our regular Skype session with their grandparents. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, the distance can now be bridged and is not considered the massive chasm it once was.

Of course nothing beats, face-to-face hugs, cuddles, kisses and play time. But I really grateful for these little things that help to strengthen the special bond between my kids and their grandparents.

I love how technology allows us to do things like this. My SIL was in Canada for half of my pregnancy and we were lucky enough to skype each week so she didnt miss out on telling me how big I was getting!

ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea to do this - we should do it more with our kid's grandparents in NZ, thanks for reminder! And yes I agree that it's a grandparent's right to spoil their grandkids, I can't wait to do that for mine (waaaaay down the track ;) )

ReplyDeleteI have just been discussing this with my father the other day, he has just returned from visiting his sister in Kenya. She has lived there for over 50 years and he said it is so much easier keeping in touch these days with Skype, Facebook and apps like Viber.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! We take it for granted sometimes I think. I can still remember times back when it costed a fortune just to make a short international phone call with someone overseas.
DeleteSkype is wonderful, isn't it? My daughter skypes (well, she's one year old, but you know what I mean!) with all her relatives in Sicily and it's just so fantastic for them to be able to see her. Your photo is beautiful. You're such a great photographer!
