Just an update on my earlier post on sleep, or the lack of it. Thankfully baby girl had a couple of good nights here and there this past week. I managed to get up to five hours for a night or two. Not quite the six hours I was aiming for, but I’m happy with that for now.
I was feeling pretty good about my five hours until I read this. Turns out without sleep, our brains basically turn into one big toxic wasteland. All of a sudden I could actually feel those evil toxins literally building up and choking my brain.
The hubby was very sweet and voluntarily offered to take the graveyard hour shift on a weeknight (even though he was working the next day) to help resettle her if she woke and try to get her to stretch a little bit more so mummy can shut her eyes a tad bit longer (“Thanks, hon”).
Some precious photos of the little sleepyhead...
When she sleeps, she really can sleep!
I was snapping away for a good five minutes and she didn’t even stir.
I finally had to gently nudge her a bit, it was time to wake up anyway.
Good morning sunshine!
Have a great week, everyone!
Linking up to the IBOT party
A sleeping baby is one of the cutest things ever!! My little one has spoilt me the last week with a few good nights of sleep, he has even started sleeping in the day which is a bonus!! I hope your little angel lets you get some sleep soon.
ReplyDeleteHi ann! how good that your bub is starting to settle down and learning to sleep better. More sleep for baby = more sleep for mummy! Hope the upward trend with your baby continues on track :)
DeleteGorgeous girl! My little poppet has one really good night then a run of pretty lousy ones. If I get a nap in every couple of days I'm not doing too bad but somedays I totally feel like my brain is a toxic waste land!! Hope the sleep fairy comes & blesses you soon x
ReplyDeleteSounds exactly like my situation too. They throw you a good one to get your hopes up, and then go downhill again for a stretch. And just as I'm about to reach the end of my tether, another good run comes along. Thanks for relating to my situation!
DeleteGreat you got 5 hours at least and don't you just feel like you could climb a mountain after that much sleep when you have been deprived for so long. Me I'm still on the 4 hours aghh
ReplyDeleteI felt absolutely terrific the next morning! Hang in there, Sarah! You'll both get there, maybe a minute at a time, one night at time!
DeleteSleep is so important! I know as a mother of a child who decided for 6 years that it wasn't. Crossing all my fingers and toes and hoping you get more than 6 hours soon
ReplyDeleteThanks for throwing in your fingers and toes for me, Annaleis!
DeleteAhhh sleep - I know how hard life is without it, if I get 5 to 6 hours uninterrupted it's a miracle but then again I've never been a great sleeper - stoked for you and long maybe it continue :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Emily. I'm definitely stoked over my 5 hours... I'm not a great sleeper (or napper) either... so every little bit more counts so much as I'm sure you know!
DeleteI love sleep, and am so glad we are past this point with our kids! My first two were shocking sleepers, but I did a lot differently with the last two and they were so much easier.
ReplyDeleteWell they do say that "experience is the best teacher"... glad for you that you're past all this. I'll get there someday!
DeleteLove her bright chirpy eyes in that last photo!
ReplyDeleteMe too! ^_^ She woke up from a really good nap then.
