I’m presently in the midst of embarking on a mega huge project. I think a lot of people will think I’m crazy to want to do this. Even the hubby thought so at first, actually I think he still does but he’s going to support me anyway.
So here goes (deep breath)...
I have decided to start my own Family Day Care!
For those of you who may not be familiar with this, a family day care is a small scale day care run in the carer’s own home.
It’s going to be exciting journey. There are some training courses I’ll need to undergo and adjustments to make around our house. My blogging and sewing may suffer a little during this time. However I’m planning to journal about this project and the process I’ll be going through to set up our day care here.
I plan to share about the application process, what I’ll be learning from the training courses, my home set up, craft and activity ideas and other related bits and pieces on this journey.
So stay tuned for more updates in this department.
Looks like I’ll be seeing a lot more of these two!

This is an exciting new venture I am embarking on to set up my own family day care. Throughout this journey, I will be sharing about this project, the application process, what I’ll be learning from the training courses, my home set up, craft and activity ideas and other related bits and pieces. Through this, I hope to support and connect with other fellow day care educators and also provide a little more awareness and insight for parents (and parents-to-be) on the set up and running of a family day care. You can follow along my updates under the family day care tag.
Good luck, sounds fabulous. Nice to find your blog today as well xx
ReplyDeleteHi Deb! Thanks for stopping by to say hi! It's always lovely to get a hello from readers and fellow bloggers like you
DeleteMy daughter attended a Family Day Care (she is 19 now) and it was the perfect environment for her while I had to work. Think you will be fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHi Annaleis! I'm a big fan of family daycare as well. My son has been attending one up until now. I loved knowing that he was being cared for in a close knit homey environment when I had to work.
DeleteWow, maybe not so crazy maybe fulfilling! Best of luck on the journey I hope it is a success. I know from experience there is a lack of family day care in Perth and it is something people like. Look forward to following!!
ReplyDeleteHey there, Druime! Thanks for the best wishes as I embark on this. Yup, the waiting list for family daycare can be pretty long... I know that from personal experience too. Should be an interesting journey and I'm glad to have your support as I share my adventures :)
DeleteGood luck with your big endeavour! You obviously love children and one of the best things about having a family day care is that you can stay close to your while working at the same time. Kids are hilarious so I'll sure they'll provide you with lots of stuff to blog about too!
ReplyDeleteThat's precisely one of the biggest reasons why I decided to get into this... to be able to stay close to my kids. And yes, I definitely hope I'll always be able to see the funny side of whatever these kids get up to even when things don't always go perfectly as planned!
DeleteI just realised I missed out the word 'children' in my comment yesterday! LOL. and yes, just remember that bad experiences can be turned into very good stories :) xx
DeleteHehehe... that's ok Lizzy! I got what you meant. Hope I have plenty of funny stories to share soon, but hopefully they will not all be at my expense!
DeleteWow Serene!! Good on you! What an awesome adventure it is going to be!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, and I'm looking forward to reading your journey :)

Thanks Miss Cinders! Look forward to sharing the journey with you and everyone!
DeleteWell I take my hat off to you - it takes a special kind of person to do this - sounds like you the right woman for the job! Keep us posted :) x
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily! I don't know if I have everything it takes yet, but I hope to grow into becoming that person along the way. Thanks for the encouragement
DeleteGood for you. I am struggling with putting my kids in day care at the moment and would love to access the local family daycare but there is a wait list!! Congratulations on your new found career!
ReplyDeleteHello Lisa. Tell me about that wait list! Thanks for your good wishes and hope you manage to find a daycare you are comfortable with soon!
DeleteSounds fabulous. I know urs will be great! And I admire you for your guts to follow your dreams ! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Shu-Yin... it doesn't feel that way all the time, I get worried sometimes if it's the right decision. But yes, it's my dream and I should follow it!
DeleteGood on you. Your posts always radiate with excitement with the things you do with your own kids so I reckon you will be great - and a fantastic way to keep your own kids around you at home.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy! I hope I will be able to sustain that excitement. And yes, the biggest motivation is to be able to stay close to my kids
DeleteIt's not crazy, it's a great idea! To be able to work and stay close to your kids at the same time is a real bonus. All the best and I look forward to following your journey.
ReplyDeleteHi Jin Ai! Thanks for popping by to cheer me on. Look forward to sharing the journey with you :)
DeleteI wish I had thought of this idea when my children were young. It was agony to leave them every morning of my working life.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling. But thankfully you were able to come home in the afternoon so you could spend time with us the rest of the day. I have good memories of that... going to the library, marketing, swimming, even a trip to your department office to run errands was an adventure!
DeleteWow, a big new adventure! All the best with it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stephanie! Definitely gonna be an adventure!
DeleteThat's HUGE!! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good wishes, Alison ^_^
DeleteI would love to send my son to your day care centre. Where are you at? We live up in Joondalup. :)
ReplyDeleteHello Tracy! Really appreciate your comment. It's really encouraging and truly means a lot to me. We live south of the river, though. So it might be a bit of a stretch for you? If you have any friends, I would be happy to hear from them also!
