Sunday caveats

It just occurred to me that some non-parents might be puzzled at the timeframes outlined in my previous post. 25 minutes to feed a child??? You can’t be serious. Well I know some folks who need to dedicate ONE HOUR just to shovel food into their kid’s mouth.

So here are a few additional caveats to add further context our Sundays:

  • Feeding children is a looooong and slooooow process. And not forgetting, messy.
    .
  • When you become a parent, you will understand what the big deal with naps is all about.
    .
  • Children create a lot (and I really mean a LOT) of laundry.
    .
  • Packing supplies for going out with kids is like getting ready for a big military operation.
    .
  • Having kids is like a mega adventure ride. All ups and downs. Highs and lows. And in the end, it’s all good.

  1. i tried feeding a crying little girl before. after 10minutes and not even a spoonful of food, i gave up. so 25 minutes sounds like a good pace

  2. Haha my parents used to sit by me for like two hours? They would eventually give up on feeding me lunch because it was time to start preparing dinner. I don't know how all mummies do it... I can't picture myself with that kind of infinite patience!

  3. Ha-ha, I still remember Wan2's tears streaming down her cheeks at each meal time. She absolutely refused to swallow the food. It's a miracle she grew at all!!

  4. And lots of contingency planning. Acting and re- planning, looking for alternatives, make do, and sometimes finding excuses to convince ourselves it's fine. All these happening concurrently so don't blame us if we are not always polite!

  5. Haha wan2 why did u hate food so much?!

  6. Thanks for the additional input, Sonia ^_^ And I totally agree with contingency plans. Kids are full of surprises

WanWan... 2 hours is one big record! Mum's fond reminiscing over the tears at meal time really cracked me up... hehehehe
