Boutique Cupcakes and my mum’s’ special day

After 35 years in government education service, my mum has finally retired. It just so happened that the first day of her retirement was also her birthday. So naturally I wanted to do something special for her.

As I couldn’t be there on the day itself I did the next best thing, I decided to send something really special to her. After trawling through myriads of online stores and websites offering the usual delivery of flowers, chocolates and teddy bears. I was suddenly struck by an idea to send her something yummy, like a cake or dessert...

I wasn’t sure if I could find any local websites or online stores based in Sabah that would cater to such a specific request, but I remembered a little bakery I had come across through a friend’s blog called Boutique Cupcakes located in City Mall in Kota Kinabalu. I was immediately drawn to the photos of their delectable cupcakes on their Facebook page. I was sure my mum (and dad) would definitely love to sample these yummy treats. My brothers were happy to chip in so I decided to go for it.

I gave them a ring and told them what I wanted to do. The staff member on the phone was very friendly and attentive and said she would check with her manager. I received an email response almost immediately and they were very obliging to help me organise something special for my mum.

We agreed on a selection of a dozen of their favourite cupcake flavours and they also added a little personalised message with fondant icing…

I really wish I could have a bite of some of the cupcakes because they look absolutely amazing. Some of the flavours in the selection include Chocolate Madness, Carrot Walnut with Cream Cheese, Green Tea and Dolce & Banana.

The cupcakes were arranged in a little gift box and delivered to my mum’s doorstep right on the day of her birthday.

As predicted, my mum loved it!

I really commend the Boutique Cupcakes team for their great service, prompt response and openness to customer ideas and requests.

Thanks so much Boutique Cupcakes for helping to make my mum’s special day a really memorable one.

If you’re in KK and would like to check them out, they are located at Unit S-0-8 Ground Floor, City Mall (next to Veda Blu) or you can also visit their website and Facebook page.

By the way, just to let you know what I’m not receiving any benefits or commission for this little review other than simply being a very satisfied customer.

Comments

  1. The cakes were delectable. We shared them with 3 of my staff who accompanied me back to KK. They felt the cupcakes were too lovely to eat and they took them back to Keningau to show their colleagues.
